STICHTITE SPECIMEN
This is the raw lilac stichtite specimen. Dimensions: 2.8 x 1.4 x 0.8″ (7 x 3.5 x 2.1cm). Weight – 1.9oz (53 grams). Origin: Russia, Altai.
Some information about stichtite:
Stichtite is a mineral, a carbonate of chromium and magnesium. Its colour ranges from pink through lilac to a rich purple colour. It is formed as an alteration product of chromite containing serpentine.
Discovered in 1910 on the west coast of Tasmania, Australia, it was first recognised by A.S. Wesley a former chief chemist with the Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company, it named after Robert Carl Sticht the manager of the mine.
