This is the polished on the one side blue violane specimen. Dimensions: 5.4 x 3.9 x 0.3″ (13.6 x 10 x 0.8cm). Weight – 6.3oz (179 grams). Origin: Russia, Buryatia.
Some information about violane:
Violane is a variety of the diopside mineral bluish tones. Violane color is due to admixture of manganese and iron. Contains 10% jadeite and aegirine components.
Known deposits from Italy (Saint-Marcel, Piedmont) and Russia. In Russia deposits are located in the Transbaikalia, Altai and Sayan.
