This is the raw lilac lepidolite specimen with pink tourmaline. Dimensions: 2.8 x 1.8 x 1.1″ (7.2 x 4.5 x 2.9cm). Weight – 3.1oz (88 grams). Origin: Russia, Transbaikalia.
Some information about lepidolite:
Lepidolite is a lilac-gray or rose-colored member of the mica group of minerals. It is the most abundant lithium-bearing mineral and is a secondary source of this metal. It is the major source of the alkali metal rubidium.
Lepidolite found with other lithium-bearing minerals, such as spodumene, in pegmatite bodies. It also found in high-temperature quartz veins, greisens and granite.
Lepidolite has a variety of colors, mainly lilac, pink, purple, and red, but also gray and, rarely, yellow and colorless (More information about lepidolite).
