This is the raw light green lavrovite specimen with marble. Dimensions: 2.6 x 1.6 x 1.3″ (6.6 x 4.1 x 3.4cm). Weight – 4.9oz (139 grams). Origin: Russia, Siberia.
Some information about lavrovite:
Lavrovite is a variety of diopside of apple-green and grass-green color. The color is due to an admixture of vanadium. Lavrovite deposits found mainly in calcium-rich metamorphic rocks. Usually forms dense fine-grained clusters.
The stone named after the Russian state councilor N. I. Lavrov (1790-1874), one of the founders of the St. Petersburg Mineralogical Society (now the Russian Mineralogical Society).
It mined in the area of Lake Baikal, being one of the mineralogical symbols of this region. Lavrovite is an ornamental stone. It used mainly for the manufacture of souvenirs.
