AXINITE CRYSTALS
This is the cluster of brownish axinite crystals with quartz and calcite. Dimensions: 3 x 1.2 x 1.2″ (7.5 x 3 x 3cm). Weight – 2.2oz (62 grams). Origin: Russia, Dalnegorsk.

Axinite is a brown to violet-brown, or reddish-brown bladed group of minerals composed of calcium aluminium boro-silicate. Axinite is pyroelectric and piezoelectric.
The axinite group includes:
Axinite-(Fe) or ferroaxinite, iron rich, clove-brown, brown, plum-blue, pearl-gray.
Axinite-(Mg) or magnesioaxinite, magnesium rich, pale blue to pale violet; light brown to light pink.
Axinite-(Mn) or manganaxinite, manganese rich, honey-yellow, clove-brown, brown to blue.
Tinzenite, iron – manganese intermediate, yellow, brownish yellow-green.
