This is the polished on the one side lepidolite specimen with pink tourmaline and feldspar. Dimensions: 2.6 x 1.6 x 0.8″ (6.5 x 4 x 2cm). Weight – 1.4oz (40 grams). Origin: Russia, Transbaikalia.
Some information about lepidolite:
Lepidolite is a lilac-gray or rose-colored member of the mica group of minerals. It is the most abundant lithium-bearing mineral and is a secondary source of this metal. It is the major source of the alkali metal rubidium.
Lepidolite found with other lithium-bearing minerals, such as spodumene, in pegmatite bodies. It also found in high-temperature quartz veins, greisens and granite.
Lepidolite has a variety of colors, mainly lilac, pink, purple, and red, but also gray and, rarely, yellow and colorless (More information about lepidolite).
