Belomorite

Belomorite (moonstone) is the trade name for iridescent plagioclase (peristerite) from granitic pegmatites of North Karelia in the White Sea region.

This ornamental stone is a variety of feldspars, predominantly oligoclase. It is especially popular due to its unique optical effect – it has a delicate bluish tint, visually reminiscent of moonlight. Characterized by softness, the color ranges from white to beige and yellowish.
